Social Studies
This lesson focuses on slavery and immigration, including cultural traditions each immigrant group brought to the United States.  Please have your child review the blue DOSS sheet to prepare for the quiz on Friday, December 7th.

Math
As a reminder we will take the multiplication and division end of unit assessment on Wednesday. To prepare for this assessment please refer to the concepts and strategies mentioned on last week's newsletter.  On Thursday our class will start a new mathematics unit about geometry and measurement called Perimeter, Angles, and Area.  The lessons will focus on the following concepts:
1. Describing and classifying the attributes of triangles: three sides, three vertices, and three angles.
2. Describing & classifying the attributes of quadrilaterals: four sides, four vertices, & four angles.
3. Comparing the properties of squares and rectangles.
4.  Determining whether two shapes are congruent by sliding, flipping, or turning the shapes.

Science
We are continuing our study of matter and how it can be described.  We will be completing in-class lab explorations to build an understanding of water melting, freezing, boiling, evaporating, and condensing when heat is added or removed.  The States of Matter project is due on Friday, December 7th.  Please refer to the rubric sent home with your child.  The end of unit assessment will be Tuesday, December 11th.

I also love the pictures I recieved of my students enjoying their Thanksgiving.  Enjoy using your no homework pass!!!!!!!
