The Kitchen Sink: Week of October 22nd - 25th

Studies
There is no Social Studies  quiz this week due to the short week.  This week we begin a two week lesson, with the quiz on November 2nd.  Our two week lesson will focus on the first European explorers to come to North America and the first English and Spanish colonists.  Please help your child by reviewing the blue SS sheet located in their BAM folder to be prepared for the quiz on November 2nd 

Math













This week we will continue our Equal Groups unit.  Please continue to practice skip counting with your child to gain fluency.  The lessons will focus on using arrays to find the product of multiplication equations by skip counting by one of its dimensions.  To find the product of this array, students can skip count by the multiples of three or four.

We will have a quiz on Wednesday.  This quiz will contain content covered in our Everyday Calendar Math curriculum.  To study discuss/practice the following:
-  The differences between equilateral and isosceles triangles
-  Practice adding money (coins)      -Telling time on analog clocks

Science
We continue to work to answer the essential question "How is matter measured?"  We are practicing measuring and comparing the mass and volume and liquids, as well as measuring and comparing temperatures of various solids and liquids using tools such as graduated cylinders and thermometers.  Please help your child prepare for the quiz on Thursday, October 25th.  They should review the workbook pages 99-103 and the notes taken in their Science Journals.
